APPRAISER: And what did you pay for them?
GUEST: About $25.
APPRAISER: Okay.
These are from Nigeria.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: And they're called ibeji.
And the tribe is Yoruba, and in Yoruba, ibeji means "twin."
And when a twin dies, they carve these because these become a repository for the soul of the twin.
And I would say these are late 19th, early 20th century.
In today's market, $800 to $1,200.
GUEST: Very nice.
APPRAISER: How'd you... For $25, that's not a bad investment.
GUEST: I'll take it.
