Cranberry farms began in areas where wild cranberries grew. Growers increased their harvest by experimenting with land preparation, and controlling the use of water. Native Americans who once gathered the wild berries, began to work on the farms. The advent of mechanized harvesting combined with new cranberry products, to create a dynamic Wisconsin industry.
